WEASA 2025: Building Digital Resilience at the College of Europe

Day 5 of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA) featured a hands-on workshop on “Disinformation, Democracy, and Elections,” led by Jakub Szymik, Founder of CEE Digital Democracy Watch. Participants engaged in practical exercises exploring the mechanics of disinformation campaigns, examined how such operations influence public opinion, and discussed how democratic institutions can strengthen their resilience against evolving digital threats.

This year’s WEASA took place in person at the College of Europe Natolin campus in Warsaw, from July 6 to 13, 2025. The 13th edition, themed “Digital Resilience in the Age of Disinformation,” brought together mid-career professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The Academy focused on pressing issues like digital security, media literacy, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and strategies to counter disinformation and safeguard electoral processes.

Organised through a partnership between the College of Europe, the Polish American Freedom Foundation, and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, WEASA offers an intensive week of lectures, workshops, and expert discussions.
