In June 2025 we attended the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Code of Conduct on Disinformation Task Force, organised by the European Commission on June 18, 2025, in Brussels.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks from Krisztina Stump, followed by the formal introduction of CEE DDW as a new signatory alongside Demagog.cz and Expert Forum. The event gathered leading experts, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss current challenges and the progress made in advancing transparency, scientific measurement, and information integrity within the digital information space.
Throughout the day, sessions explored topics such as the latest developments in structural indicators for measuring online disinformation, access to data for researchers, and regulatory updates regarding the Digital Services Act, political advertising, and the European Democracy Shield.
Afternoon discussions focused on safeguarding democracy and election preparedness, featuring presentations on adapting to new manipulation tactics in Romania, and challenges facing electoral processes in Poland and Germany. Speakers also addressed the risks posed by AI chatbot manipulation and the monitoring of online political advertising during EU elections.
The agenda concluded with a panel debate designed to tackle new threats to democratic processes and the need for innovative strategies to protect election integrity.
