Visegrad Insight: Electoral Process in Jeopardy? Lessons Learned from Central Europe

Jakub Szymik, Founder of CEE Digital Democracy Watch, took part in the Visegrad Insight online panel “Electoral Process in Jeopardy? Lessons Learned from Central Europe”. The event focused on growing risks to democratic elections in the region, drawing from recent electoral experiences in Poland and Romania, and looking ahead to upcoming votes in countries like Moldova, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.

The discussion explored key threats such as disinformation campaigns, political influence operations, and misuse of digital platforms during elections. Jakub Szymik contributed insights on how digital manipulation affects public trust, the need for stronger regulatory frameworks, and the importance of coordinated institutional responses to protect electoral integrity.

The panel, part of Visegrad Insight’s Democracy and Resilience initiative, brought together policy experts, analysts, and civil society voices to examine how Central Europe can build resilience against growing electoral interference and democratic backsliding.
