CEE Digital Democracy Watch became the co-signatory of EU Code of Practice on Disinformation. This is a first-of-its kind tool through which relevant players in the industry agreed on self-regulatory standards to fight disinformation.
CEE Digital Democracy Watch’s main focus will be commitments regarding transparency of political advertising. Recognising the importance of political advertising in shaping public life, the Code commits signatories to put in place stronger transparency measures, allowing users to easily recognise political ads by providing more efficient labelling, committing to reveal the sponsor, ad spend and display period. Moreover, signatories commit to putting in place efficient and searchable ad libraries for political advertising.
Our organisation will also participate in the rapid response system (RRS) for upcoming Polish presidential elections that will streamline the exchange of information between civil society organisations, fact-checkers and online platforms – as foreseen in the Code.
